Outdoor Seating and Merchandising
The town recognizes that seating and merchandise displays on sidewalks and in public spaces can be beneficial to businesses and their patrons. Additional information is available on the FAQ: Outdoor Seating and Merchandising page of this website.
Outdoor Seating Permit
An outdoor seating permit allows businesses to serve customers at tables placed outside and immediately adjacent to their places of business on the public sidewalk and in public space. The following conditions apply:
- Tables may only be placed directly adjacent to the business’s storefront.
- Only tables belonging to the business may be used for service.
- Seating areas must be clearly delineated.
- There must a 5-foot path complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act leading to the business's front door.
- There must be a 6-foot clear pedestrian path maintained along sidewalks.
Outdoor merchandising
Retailers may put merchandise outside without a permit, per the requirements outlined in the town Code of Ordinances and below:
- Merchandise must be brought in when the store is not open.
- Goods must be located directly adjacent to the business storefront.
- There must a 5-foot path complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act leading to the business's front door.
- There must be a 6-foot clear pedestrian path maintained along sidewalks.
