Hey, skaters! Work on a skate spot in Cates Creek Park will begin today.

Initial clearing and grading will begin May 9 to prepare the site for upcoming skate park construction. During this time, soil will be removed from the site and gravel will be laid to provide a base for construction of the facility. Construction on the skate spot is scheduled to begin May 22, with a timeline of about three to four months.

Please stay away from the construction zone for your safety, the safety of workers, and to avoid delaying the skate spot’s opening. More information about the opening will be provided as construction progresses.

About the Skate Spot

The Town of Hillsborough has contracted with 5th Pocket Skateparks to design and construct a concrete skate facility in Cates Creek Park. More than 50 participants met with the company’s designers last year to share their preferences for features to include in the design.

A skate spot is a small skate park. The Hillsborough Parks and Recreation Board has recommended that the town include a few skate spots around town in its long-term park plans.
