Snow Removal

As soon as snowfall reaches a depth of 2 inches on the pavement, snow plowing begins on town-maintained roads.

Normal Snowfall

Under normal snowfall conditions (2 to 4 inches), employees plow all town streets giving first priority to the town's main thoroughfares, bridges, emergency services and the county public works area.

Severe Snowfall
Under severe snowfall conditions (above 4 inches), employees concentrate all efforts on keeping the town's main thoroughfares, bridges, emergency services and the county public works area clear until conditions allow them to plow the remaining streets within the town limits.

The N.C. Department of Transportation is responsible for snow and ice removal on state-maintained roadways in town: Cornelius Street, East and West King streets, North and South Nash streets, Dimmocks Mill, Eno Mountain, Faucette Mill, Harper, Locust, Revere, St. Mary's and Tuliptree roads, Oakdale Drive, North and South West Hill avenues, Orange Grove Road (west of Churton Street), U.S. 70A and U.S. 70 East.
