Parks and Recreation Board
The Parks and Recreation Board meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month in the Town Barn. The Town Barn is located on the Town Hall campus, 101 E. Orange St. Parking is accessed from East Corbin Street.
The Parks and Recreation Board has up to 11 members appointed by the Hillsborough Board of Commissioners to advise the town and Planning boards about park issues. The Parks and Recreation Board works to implement the recommendations in the Parks and Recreation Master Plan, which is the board’s guiding document. The master plan is revisited annually to make key updates and new recommendations. The Parks and Recreation Board also provides comments about recreation space offered by various developments and communicates with other recreational organizations to facilitate the sharing of resources and programming opportunities. The board also coordinates with neighborhood groups to establish neighborhood parks and with the Public Works Department to ensure maintenance of parks and construction of sidewalks.

Recent Projects
In March 2010, the Hillsborough Board of Commissioners approved the annual update of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. This version expanded the boundaries of several park districts and added two districts for a total of 16 park districts. This version also has an updated recreational resources inventory.
In June 2009, the Board of Commissioners adopted the Community Connectivity Plan. The plan’s creation was recommended in the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The Community Connectivity Plan provides a detailed inventory and analysis of pedestrian and bicycle routes and amenities in Hillsborough and makes recommendations for improving the pedestrian and bicycle environment.
