Kings Highway Park

Kings Highway Park is an 18-acre natural area located at 1001 Ben Johnson Road in the great bend of the Eno River. Lake Ben Johnston bounds the property on the south and west, which is owned and maintained by the town. The park was developed by volunteers, who built trails, bridges, picnic tables and a kiosk. It now has almost 1 mile of nature trails.

The name Kings Highway Park is based on the research of Tom Magnuson, founder of the Trading Path Association, which works to preserve and promote remnants of the historic Native American trading path that once connected the Chesapeake Bay region with towns in the Carolinas and Georgia. Magnuson documented the presence of remnants of a river ford and historic road known as King's Highway on the property. The Hillsborough Board of Commissioners officially opened the park to the public in May 2007.
