Hazardous Waste

The town does not collect hazardous waste. These materials include gasoline, diesel fuels, oil, asbestos, antifreeze, non-water-based paint and other hazardous materials as classified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. If hazardous materials are left at your curb or a request is made for their collection, you will be notified of the town’s policy via a sanitation policy tag.

Hazardous Waste Items

- Lawn, garden and pool chemicals
- Household cleaners and chemicals
- All batteries (These are accepted at Orange County solid waste convenience centers.)
- Paint
- Sealant
- Solvents
- Aerosol cans (These are recyclable if empty at Orange County solid waste convenience centers or in curbside recycling bins.)
- Automotive chemicals
- Fluorescent light bulbs
- Thermostats
- Tanks from compressed gasses
- Anti-freeze and other automotive fluids

The town collects paint cans if they are completely dried, flattened and lidless.
