Mission Statement

 

To maintain a scheduled maintenance program for all Town of Hillsborough vehicles and equipment and to meet the departments' equipment needs so the departments can meet the needs of citizens.

 

 

Fleet Maintenance Division

 

The Fleet Maintenance Division is staffed by a fleet maintenance supervisor and two fleet mechanics. The current facility is located at 719 Dimmocks Mill Road and was built approximately 40 years ago.

The Fleet Maintenance Division offers a variety of services for Town of Hillsborough vehicles and equipment, including preventive maintenance, major vehicle and equipment repairs, tire repair, welding, state inspections, brake work, electrical repair, diagnostic testing and hydraulic testing and repair. The Fleet Maintenance supervisor maintains a computerized record system of all town vehicles and equipment. This record aids in monitoring and creating an annual budget for the Motor Pool and in preparing reports for management and other departments.

The town obtains its fuel from Orange County government. All town vehicles are equipped with fuel modules that allow dispensing of fuel to authorized vehicles only. The fuel modules provide a computerized printout of the amount of fuel each vehicle receives.

The Fleet Maintenance Division maintains 55 vehicles, 31 pieces of heavy equipment, five self-propelled mowers and miscellaneous equipment such as push mowers, weed trimmers, pumps, welders and generators.
