CodeRED
Seconds Count in an Emergency — Make Sure the Town Has Your Phone Number
The Town of Hillsborough uses CodeRED, a high-speed, emergency notification service. Through the
system, town officials can deliver pre-recorded emergency messages by telephone to targeted areas or to the entire town in case of an emergency that requires immediate action.
The system can handle up to 60,000 calls per hour and delivers messages to a live person or to an answering machine, making three attempts to connect to a phone number.
To add your phone number or an alternate number — including cellular phone numbers — click on the CodeRED image.
All businesses are encouraged to register their phone numbers. Residents also should register if:
- They have unlisted phone numbers.
- They have changed their phone numbers or their addresses within the last year.
- They use cellular phones as their primary home phones.
CodeRED is a geographical-based system that uses street addresses to select which phone numbers will receive emergency notification calls. No post office box numbers will be accepted.
This system only will be used for emergency purposes.
