Boards and Commissions

Hillsborough citizens may apply to serve on town boards, commissions and task forces that are appointed by the Hillsborough Board of Commissioners. The Board of Adjustment and the Historic District Commission are quasi-judicial boards: They exercise their judgment and discretion to make rulings on cases based on the Zoning Ordinance and the Historic District Design Guidelines. The other boards are advisory boards that focus on an area of interest and make recommendations to the Town Board. At times, the Town Board forms task forces to focus on a specific issue for a set period of time.
Most boards have three-year terms and hold meetings once a month. Board vacancies will be listed here as they come up. If you are interested in serving on a board that does not have a vacancy, you are welcome to submit an application that will be kept on file until a vacancy opens.
